Day 1: Fly UK to Amsterdam from your selected airport in the UK. Fly from your selected airport in the UK to Amsterdam. On arrival, be met at the airport and transferred to your river ship. With the rest of the day at your leisure after settling in to your suite, perhaps visit one of the city’s renowned museums such as the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum or the Anne Frank House. This evening, enjoy a Welcome Reception followed by the first of many delicious dinners on board. Seven Night Stay: a luxury river ship.
Day 2: Amsterdam After breakfast this morning, disembark your ship for a guided canal cruise through the city. Admire the architecture from a glass-top boat as you cruise past 17th century homes, charming churches and 16th century merchant houses alongside the historic canals of Amsterdam. Afterwards, enjoy a driving tour of the city, including a photo stop at the Rembrandt Windmill, before some time at leisure to look around at your own pace. Travel by coach to Utrecht and rejoin your ship for lunch as you set out cruising towards Germany. This evening, enjoy the Captain’s Gala Welcome Dinner.
Day 3: Cologne Enter Germany, cruise past Düsseldorf and arrive in Cologne, Germany’s fourth largest city. On a guided tour, visit the city’s famous cultural attractions, including the 13th century cathedral. Afterwards, return to your ship for dinner.
Day 4: Koblenz - Andernach, Rüdesheim This morning, you might like to board a coach in Cologne and head for 2,000 year-old Koblenz, which in 2011 is hosting Germany’s Federal Horticulture Show†. Ride the city’s cable car up to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress and enjoy an afternoon taking in the different colours and stunning landscapes in and around the city. Afterwards, rejoin your ship in Rüdesheim this afternoon. Alternatively, you may like to remain on board and cruise through the Rhine Gorge on what is known as the Rhine’s most beautiful stretch. Enjoy views of the slopes covered in vineyards and dotted with ancient castles and castle ruins. Cruise past the pretty villages of Boppard and St Goarshausen, among others, as well as Lorelei Rock, rising almost 130 metres above the water. Later, arrive in Rüdesheim, a Rhine Valley wine town. Here, the Winzerexpress mini-train will take you to Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum, which houses one of the most beautiful collections of automated musical instruments in Germany. After your tour of the museum, re-board your ship, which will remain moored in Rüdesheim overnight
Day 5: Worms, Heidelberg Today, arrive in one of Germany’s oldest cities, Worms. During a tour, visit the monument to Martin Luther and other leaders of the Reformation along the Luther Trail. You’ll also see the Heiliger Sand, one of Europe’s oldest Jewish cemeteries. After lunch, enjoy a trip to Heidelberg.
Day 6: Strasbourg This morning, tour the charming medieval town of Strasbourg. See the European Parliament and visit the La Petite France district, where you will see the sandstone Gothic Cathedral with its famous astronomical clock. Then enjoy a canal cruise and glide past pretty black and white timber-framed buildings, covered bridges and medieval watchtowers. The rest of today is at leisure to relax, or perhaps enjoy a guided bike tour .
Day 7: Breisach, Colmar/Freiburg Today, disembark in Breisach and choose between a city tour of Colmar in France or Freiburg in Germany. If you travel to Freiburg, you will visit its historical city centre and the Augustinerplatz, a Gothic minster cathedral constructed of red sandstone. Bordered by the Black Forest mountains, Rosskopf and Bromberg, the town is known for meticulous wood carvings and cuckoo clocks, which you’ll stop to see. Those that choose to travel to Colmar will enjoy a city tour that includes the Germaninfluenced old quarter, and will also indulge in a wine tasting. Late tonight, your ship set sails for Basel, Switzerland.
Day 8: Disembark Ship Flight to UK. After breakfast, transfer to the airport in Basel for the return flight to your UK airport.

Day 5: Today your river ship stops in another fascinating Golden Ring city, Yaroslavl.
Day 6: Dock in Goritsy, a small and peaceful farming town.
Day 7: Situated on Lake Onega, Kizhi is home to some of Russia's most amazing wooden architecture.
Day 8: After cruising through the night, dock in the tiny village of Svirstroy and enjoy time at leisure to look around.
Day 9: Today your ship will dock at its final port of call, St. Petersburg.
Day 10: This morning, visit the Hermitage Museum in the Winter Palace, home to Russia's royal art collection of more than three million works.

Or perhaps take a Communist tour that will examine a range of architectural landmarks of the city’s not-so-distant Communist past, including Bratislava Castle. After your selected tour, enjoy time at leisure.
Day 3: Vienna. This morning after breakfast, the entire day is yours to savour the elegance of the Austrian capital, Vienna. Your day begins with a guided sightseeing tour that will take you to such attractions as Hofburg Imperial Palace, the Vienna Opera House and Ringstrasse, among other sights. Following time at leisure in the historic World Heritage-listed city centre, embark on a walking tour of beautiful St Stephen’s Cathedral. With more time at leisure this afternoon, perhaps take an optional excursion to Schönbrunn Palace, the summer palace of the Hapsburgs and former home to Empress Maria Theresa. Tour the inside of this magnificent residence then enjoy ample time to explore the beautiful gardens at leisure (own expense). After dinner tonight, perhaps join us for an optional Mozart and Strauss concert (own expense).
Day 4: Dürnstein - Melk. This morning stop in Dürnstein and take a tour through medieval cobblestone streets that reveal 16th century town houses and wine taverns. Here, above town, lie the ruins of the castle where Richard the Lionheart, the King of England, was imprisoned in 1192. Afterwards, visit a local vintner where you’ll have the opportunity to sample Wachau Valley wines. When it’s time to depart Dürnstein, perhaps borrow a bicycle and enjoy a guided ride along the Danube to Melk. Alternatively, re-board your ship and cruise to Melk. On arrival here, tour Melk Abbey, one of the world’s most famous monastic sites. Located high above the town of Melk on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Danube, it has the rare distinction of surviving as an active Benedictine monastery continuously since its foundation.
Day 5: Linz - PassauPassau. After breakfast, you may choose to disembark the ship in the Austrian city of Linz and take an optional trip to Salzburg to see its famous ‘Sound of Music’ sights, including the Wedding Church and Great Salzburg Festival Hall. Following your visit to Salzburg, you’ll then rejoin your ship in Passau (own expense).Alternatively, you may prefer to remain on board your ship for a cruise through Upper Austria to the German city of Passau, located where the rivers Inn and Ilz join the Danube. Here, a walking tour will lead you through this fairy-tale city, founded more than 2,000 years ago. Both groups will then enjoy dinner on board as your ship sets off from Passau.
Day 6: Regensburg Arrive in Regensburg today, one of Germany’s best-preserved medieval cities. Here you’ll enjoy the opportunity to see one of the oldest bridges crossing the Danube and take a tour of the city’s architectural highlights including the Old Town Hall, the World Heritage-listed city centre and the Porta Pretoria - gates to an ancient Roman fort built in 179 AD. The streets of Regensburg are bicycle-friendly, so you may even like to borrow one of the bikes and take in the sights from a different perspective. Tonight, enjoy a music performance on board after dinner.
Day 7: Nuremberg Today enter the Main-Danube Canal. Having taken 32 years to construct, the canal was completed in 1992 and is truly a feat of modern engineering. It links the North and Black seas, enabling ships to cross the entire continent. Dock in Nuremberg this afternoon, and choose from two different tours of the capital of Franconia. Perhaps take the medieval tour and see the 900 year-old ramparts that surround this historic city, the Imperial Castle and more. Or join the tour centered on the modern role the city played in the 20th century and World War II, which takes in the Zeppelin Field and the Justice Palace where the War Crimes Tribunal sat in 1946.
Day 8: Disembark Ship After breakfast, your cruise draws to its conclusion as you disembark your ship and are transferred to the airport in Nuremberg
Day 1: Fly UK to Munich from your selected airport in the UK. Be met on arrival and transferred to your river ship in Vilshofen before tonight’s Welcome Reception, which is followed by the Captain’s Gala Welcome Dinner.
Day 2: Vilshofen - Passau After breakfast this morning, you are free to explore Vilshofen’s beautiful old town, located directly on the banks of the Danube and the Vils. In the background above the town, the imposing double-towers of the Benedictine abbey, Schweiklberg, dominate the scenery. During lunch, you’ll cruise to the beautiful 2,000 year-old city of Passau, often referred to as ‘Venice on the Danube’ due to its unique location. After a walking tour here, re-board your ship for dinner.
Day 3: Linz, Gmunden This morning your ship will arrive in Linz, Austria’s second largest city. After brunch on board, take a walking tour of this historic city. This afternoon, travel by coach into Salzkammergut, a largely World Heritage-listed resort region of Austria. Enter the stunning Austrian Lake District and visit the pretty town of Gmunden, located on the shores of Lake Traunsee. With time at leisure here, you may like to enjoy a cruise across the lake or, for the more adventurous, take a cable car ride up Grünberg Mountain for views over the lake. For those not wishing to visit the Lake District, perhaps join an excursion to the Czech town of Cesky Krumlov, a wonderfully preserved medieval town nestled in the hills just over the Austrian-Czech border (own expense). An excursion to the Austrian city of Salzburg is also available (own expense).
Day 4: Melk - Krems, Dürnstein Cruise through the Strudengau region to the pretty Wachau Valley this morning and take a guided tour of Melk Abbey, one of the world’s most famous monastic sites. Located high above the town of Melk on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Danube, it has the rare distinction of surviving as an active Benedictine monastery continuously since its foundation. Later, re-board your ship for dinner and an evening music performance.
Day 7: Budapest Still on the Danube River, this morning you’ll arrive in Budapest, the romantic Hungarian capital. Disembark for a sightseeing tour that includes such places as 500 year-old Matthias Church, St Stephen’s Basilica, the distinctive Fisherman’s Bastion, the Royal Palace and historic Buda Castle, where you’ll enjoy wonderful views of Buda and Pest over both banks of the river. This evening enjoy a Farewell Dinner on board, before your ship sets off on a twilight cruise along the Danube, allowing you to take in the glittering lights of Budapest. You’ll also enjoy an onboard performance by Gypsy violinists this evening.
Day 8: Disembark Ship Return Flight to UK. After breakfast, your cruise draws to its conclusion as you disembark your ship and are transferred to the airport in Budapest for the return flight to your selected airport in the UK.
