With its chic coastal resorts, lush mountain jungles and quaint fishing villages, it is understandable why the Mexican Riviera is the world's fourth most popular cruise destination.
From the ruggedly spectacular scenery of Cabo San Lucas to the sportfishing of Mazatlan, cruise passengers are discovering the Mexican Riviera in ever increasing numbers.
In addition to being one of the most famous locations in Mexico, Acapulco is also one of the most popular with cruise passengers. Its four beaches, Los Hornos, Condesa, Caletilla and Caleta are some of the finest in Mexico and provide plenty of opportunities to indulge in sailing and water sports.
Alternatively, for the braver souls, why not try some cliff diving at La Quebrada? The party town of Cabo San Lucas is another highlight of a crusie around the Mexican Riviera, providing a captivating blend of sea, mountains and deserts. It also boasts Lovers Beach, the only beach in the world bounded by two oceans.
Frequently visited by stars such as Brad Pitt, aside from its spectacular scenery and wonderfully diverse wildlife, guests can enjoy water sports such as scuba diving, snorkeling and parasailing. Marlin fishing is also a major draw for visitors to Cabo San Lucas.
The island of Catalina was made famous as a favourite haunt of the great and glamorous of 1940s and 1950s Hollywood, and retains a certain glamour to this day. The now defunct casino where the Hollywood starlets hung out is well worth a visit, as is the town of Avalon, with its boutique lined boulevards offering some wonderful shopping opportunities.
These are just three of the ports at which Mexican Riviera cruises frequently call. Others include Enseneda, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta, all of which boast their own unique charm and contribute to making a cruise of the Mexican Riviera one of the most stunning holiday experiences available.
